Directions for Women was created to Empower, Educate, and Engage women in the management of their personal finance.
Our strategy is two-fold:
- Encourage and motivate women to get the education and guidance necessary to become financially confident decision-makers. This will be accomplished through speaking, press coverage, publications, and facilitation of women circles and events.
- Help financial advisors improve and broaden their outreach to women prospects and clients by providing presentational tools, research, insights, and processes to speak to and advise women; and educate advisors about the unique circumstances and advisory needs of women.
Our mission and strategy have evolved from:
our core beliefs
- Women are the majority gender but have been underserved by the financial services sector.
- Women often feel peripheral to or outside of the personal finance process.
- Many women do not understand the benefits and fees involved with working with a financial advisor.
- Women make excellent clients when they are educated as to the importance and value of the financial planning process.
- The financial planning needs of women are urgent and distinct from those of men.
- Women’s unique ways of talking and thinking about money deserve to be understood and cultivated by advisors.
- Financial advisors and planners – both men and women – need education and support to more effectively reach the women’s market.
- A fiduciary standard of care is of particular importance to women clients. Because women so often seek advice when they are in transition or crisis, it is imperative that their advisors put the woman’s interests ahead of their own.
- Our focus on the financial needs of women will also benefit men, families, minorities, underserved populations, children and families, and the economy as a whole.
We invite advisors who support our mission to become a Directions subscriber.
